I started working with WorkBeads 40S resin several years ago, and since then it has remained my cation exchanger of choice. It’s a reliable and efficient option for purifying untagged proteins, particularly in the purification of chimeric peptidoglycan hydrolases.

I find it especially useful during the initial purification steps, where its strong cation exchange properties help enrich the target protein effectively. After this step, the proteins are typically further polished using size exclusion chromatography, completing an effective purification process.

We have been using several BioWorks chromatography columns in our laboratory since April 2024. These include GoBio™ Mini Dsalt, GoBio™ Mini DEAE, and GoBio™ Mini IDA.

Overall, we are very satisfied with their performance. All resins are compatible with our Bio-Rad NGC chromatography system and withstand the standard pressures typically used in FPLC applications without any issues.

The chromatographic separation achieved with these resins is more than satisfactory for our purposes (purification of various recombinant and native proteins, including membranous complexes in detergents), and we particularly appreciate how easy they are to clean and regenerate.

The GoBio™ Mini DEAE and Dsalt columns have proven especially robust and reliable during repeated use.

In addition, we are using a GoBio™ Prep 16×600 40/1000 SEC column. It works properly, but in our view, its resolution (number of theoretical plates) could be better for a column of this length.

In summary, BioWorks columns offer good performance, ease of handling, and system compatibility. We appreciate their reliability and would recommend them to other labs performing routine protein purification workflows.

Nemysis Ltd. is a specialty pharmaceutical company focused on therapeutic solutions for highly prevalent nutritional disorders and deficiencies, delivering products to the healthcare market.

For the development of E40, an innovative oral endoprotease for breaking down immunogenic gluten-related peptides and now produced through recombinant technology, a crucial chromatography step required the use of high-performing materials with durability for the industrial scale.

Bio-Works provided us with excellent affinity resins and related equipment to optimize the purification of our enzyme and speed up the downstream operations.

For further technical support, process improvements and fine tuning, we always appreciated the assistance and exchange with the Bio-Works team, focused and responsive at any time.

Nemysis strongly believes the collaboration with Bio-Works will continue as a strategic relationship in its production of the best quality of this valuable finished product.

M. Cristina Comelli, CSO, Nemysis

Our team has collaborated with Bio-Works on several projects, and Bio-Works is our preferred supplier of chromatography resins and prepacked columns.

We are truly impressed by the quality and performance of the products, but in particular by the way Bio-Works supports customers.
